Mission of the RDI Department
The department’s mission is to carry out scientific research activities (both fundamental and applied), innovation, and technological development in the field of processes, technologies, and technical equipment for the mechanization and automation of operations in agriculture and the food industry.
Research Directions and Objectives
- Scientific substantiation of processes in agriculture and the food industry, and the development of new technologies, tools, and technical equipment that are compatible and competitive within the European research area, aligned with the concepts of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security.
- Development of mechanization technologies and technical equipment to increase the production capacity of agricultural land and support the conservation of structural soil quality, while eliminating soil erosion and degradation.
- Development of new technologies, products, practices, and processes for use in crop production, vegetable farming, horticulture, aquaculture, and fisheries.
- Development of new technologies for the establishment, maintenance, harvesting, and utilization of biomass.
- Development of new technologies and technical equipment for the livestock sector.
- Advancement of new areas of interest, including renewable energy, biotechnologies, and organic and ecological agriculture.
- Conducting scientific research activities (fundamental, applied, and technological development) aimed at identifying and applying innovative solutions in the field of sustainable development and environmental pollution reduction.
- Development of products based on “clean” technologies, focused on restoring and maintaining a rational, long-term balance between economic development and the integrity of the natural environment, in ways that are understood and accepted by society.
- Development of eco-friendly products made from renewable materials through:
• Conducting scientific research activities (fundamental, applied, and technological development) to identify and apply innovative solutions in the field of sustainable development and pollution reduction.
• Creating products based on clean technologies, aiming to restore and sustain a long-term, rational balance between economic development and environmental integrity, in forms that are socially acceptable and sustainable.
