The mission of the RDI Department
The mission of the department is to carry out scientific research (fundamental and applied), innovation and technological development in the field of processes, technologies and technical equipment for agricultural and food industry.
Research directions and objectives
- The scientific foundation of the processes in agriculture, food industry and the creation of new technologies, instruments and technical equipment compatible and competitive with the European research area specific to the concepts of SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE and FOOD SECURITY;
- Development of mechanization technologies and technical equipment to increase the production capacity of agricultural land and actions to preserve the structural quality; elimination of soil erosion and degradation;
- Development of new technologies, products, practices, processes used in plant, vegetable, horticultural, aquaculture and fish farming production;
- The development of new technologies for establishment, maintenance, harvesting and utilization of biomass;
- Development of new technologies and technical equipment for the livestock sector;
- Development of new fields of interest: renewable energies, biotechnologies, organic and ecological agriculture;
- Carrying out scientific research activities (fundamental, applied and technological development) in order to identify and apply innovative solutions in the field of sustainable development and reduction of environmental pollution.
- The development of products based on “clean” technologies, aiming to restore and maintain a rational, long-term balance between economic development and the integrity of the natural environment, in forms understood and accepted by society.
- Development of environmentally friendly products from renewable materials through:
- Carrying out scientific research activities (fundamental, applied and technological development) in order to identify and apply innovative solutions in the field of sustainable development and reduction of environmental pollution.
- The development of products based on “clean” technologies, aiming to restore and maintain a rational, long-term balance between economic development and the integrity of the natural environment, in forms understood and accepted by society
